Bill Murray is known as an American actor and comedian. He is most famous for his roles in 'Saturday Night Live,' Meatballs,' and 'Caddyshack'.

Background and Age

William J. Murray was born on September 21, 1950, in Wilmette, Illinois. The fifth of nine children, Murray was a self-proclaimed troublemaker, regardless of whether it was getting kicked out of Little League or being arrested at age 20 for attempting to smuggle near nine pounds of cannabis through Chicago's O'Hare Airport. While trying to discover a purpose in his life, he joined his more established sibling, Brian Doyle-Murray, in the cast of Chicago's Second City improvisational sketch comedy troupe.

Married, Wife and Kids

Bill Murray was married to Margaret "Mickey" Kelley from 1981 to 1994. They have two children, Homer and Luke from their marriage. In 1997, he married Jennifer Butler, with whom he has four children. Their names are Jackson, Cal, Cooper, and Lincoln. They separated in 2008 but have made arrangements to spend time with their children. Bill has been dating recently but has not been in any serious relationships.

Outside of acting, Murray has been engaged with the café business with his brother. The Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant opened in St. Augustine, Florida, in 2001, and in 2018 the team presented a second spot at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. The games themed pub and eatery features a variety of menu alternatives, including its fresh potato golf balls.

Career and Net Worth

Bill Murray eventually moved to New York City, where he took his comedic abilities to radio's National Lampoon Hour. In 1975, he was in an off-Broadway version of the comedy radio show when Howard Cosell enrolled him for a show called Saturday Night Live. In the interim, Lorne Michaels had his own Saturday Night Live running simultaneously, and when Murray joined the cast in 1976, he started creating the comedic persona that turned into his calling card for some movies to come, from Stripes to Caddyshack. In his later career, Murray took on increasingly eccentric roles in a large number of director Wes Anderson's motion pictures including Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in 2003.

Bill has become a cult hero among comedy fans, often wandering the streets and ending up in random house parties that blow up social media. In July 2019, the trailer for the sequel to popular zombie comedy, Zombieland was released and featured Bill Murray making a return to the fan favorite film.
